OK, so the average ass hole is well aware that there is some heavy shit going on in the Middle East right now.
But I think that most people aren't really aware of the consequences. Right now, gas prices are a little higher than usual on account of the situation in Libya. So we are actually already feeling this even though Libya accounts for only about 2% of the world's oil, and it mostly supplies Europe and not the U.S.
Now, let's take a moment and imagine how we will be affected if Saudi Arabia succumbs to the political unrest that is sweeping through the Middle East. It will probably look like this:
Are you starting to get the picture now? Along with Russia, Saudi Arabia is one of the top 2 oil producers in the world. If they go under, we are screwed. The prices of everything will go up. Gas, food, commodities, exporting and importing costs will rise out of control. Keep in mind that those are just the immediate short term effects. Remember how our country is hopelessly in debt and our military is spread way too thin? Just guess how it will be when we actually have to start fighting just for basic resources. At that point, it's going to be "WELCOME TO THUDERDOME" all up in this bitch.
