Viva La Revolution... Across most of the Middle East apparently

President Obama to Libya's Moammar Gadhafi: 'The Violence Must Stop'

Well, depending on how you look at it, the Middle East is either falling apart or going through the birthing pains of becoming something better than it is. But being a selfish American, I can't help but wonder how it's going to affect OUR country. Being as spread thin as our military is, do you think that we should get involved in Libya? Can we afford to? Can we afford NOT to? If we take action in Libya, will we be obligated to get involved in Yemen or Bahrain or wherever?

Personally, I think that we should NOT get involved at all beyond getting American citizens out of the country. The United States gets nothing but grief for injecting itself into volatile situations around the world. I say, let nature run its course. Let the middle east rise up from the ashes of dictatorship and monarchy. Let them become something better, but on their own terms.

Your thoughts?

  1. Each country is different so you have to consider that there is no one answer to the question of whether or not to get involved. Truth be told, we are already involved where ever there is oil. Americans like luxury and there would be a revolt here if we had to completely change our way of living to become far less dependent on oil. It will affect our pocketbook in many ways, in my opinion, whether we declare involvement or not. We also get grief, for example, with the youth of Egypt, for not being more involved with their issues
