ART-FAG'N it up: H.R. GIGER

H.R. Giger

You might not have ever heard of Mr. Giger, but you have most likely seen some of his work. His art started getting more play on the international stage after he did the creature design for the movie Alien.
While he is most known for his work on Alien, he's actually a talented and prolific fine artist. A surrealist in the vein of Salvidor Dali, Giger developed his own "biomechanical" style. A dark and twisted way of combining machines and human bodies in often sexual and interconnected relationships. Over the course of his career he has predominantly worked with airbrush, creating nightmarish landscapes and characters drawn from his own dreams and nightmares.

His influence on tattooist and fetishist has been huge. Nearly every tattooist in the country and beyond has been asked to create some sort of Giger-esque tattoo for their patrons. Most recently, Giger has been commissioned to work on Ridley Scott's prequel to the original Alien. Even if you're not into fine art you should definitely at the very least google image search his work.
